Getting started
Shopping List: these are things a cook always needs in the kitchen
- milk
- honey or raw sugar
- wholegrain bread (you can keep it in the freezer and use as needed)
- pasta - spaghetti, fettucine and shapes for minestrone, salad, etc.
- lentils and beans
- brown rice
- balsamic vinegar
- cold pressed or virgin olive oil
- another oil for cooking like safflower,corn or peanut
- sea salt, black pepper preferably in a grinder
- cans of peeled tomatoes
- frozen veg - corn, green peas, green beans
- onions
- garlic
- lemons
- fresh parsley - keep it in a glass jar with a lid in the fridge
- Dijon style mustard
- mayonnaise
- fresh ginger root - keep it in the freezer and grate when needed
- soy sauce
- condiments - cinnamon, oregano, curry powder, basil, dried bay leaves,
- bouillion cubes - chicken or vegetable, can be used instead of salt
